While thinking and planning for Easter services, I try to find that one song that really resonates in a special way about the love of Christ. At The Cross by Hillsong is one of those (and we are singing it this Easter at LRCC!). I keep my Ipod handy and pour through new music, something I could arrange or make a video for. But this year, Gary Miller’s passing has brought me back to his music over the last couple of weeks. It’s amazing how much he wrote about the love of Christ. The song Beautiful Lamb of God is just dripping with the Messiah’s grace and peace. But it’s not my favorite…
He has penned one of my favorite all time songs worship, Christian, or secular. We sang it often while in both AVB and Watershed. It’s called More. Here are the lyrics:

Aaron Herman, Brishan Hatcher, Luke Brown and Josh Harrison sang it at Gary Miller’s Memorial Service. I have watched this video over and over and meditated on this song’s words and depth. Especially in this season as we look toward Easter and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, I can think of no better way to sing about it.

A couple of weeks ago we lost a spiritual giant and amazing songwriter- Gary Miller. I have had the privilege to work alongside him for several music projects. His talent was undeniable and his faith was always evident is his work, his music, and how he loved his family. This video is a testament to how many people saw him as a mentor and friend. I’ve gotten to sing with many of these guys throughout the years. It was amazing to see all these guys together singing the song New Life.
This song has a whole new meaning and context to me. I’ll never hear it again without thinking about Gary.

I rediscovered this on YouTube a little too late after Easter! It’s so cool to see what people can do creatively with video to a song. Me and the watershed guys recorded this song “Face to Face” back in 2005. 5 years ago- I can’t believe it! Enjoy the video.
